It Takes Two (and More) to Tango
Watch and dance the sinuous, sensuous tango on Feb. 13 at a milonga — Argentine tango dance party — at the Avalon Ballroom. Hosted by Deb Sclar and Brian Dunn (pictured at right) of Dance of the Heart, the exclusive event features the Argentine tango couple they call the best in the world, Gustavo Naveira and Giselle Anne.
“It’s our privilege to host these extraordinary artists—our esteemed maestros—right here in Boulder, at the marvelous, expansive Avalon Ballroom,” Sklar says. “They will perform at 10pm, mas o menos, as our centerpiece Valentine of the evening.”
The party starts with dancing for all at 8:30pm, and the DJ is Gustavo, who brings decades of experience as a host, teacher and performer in the milongas of Buenos Aires and Europe. After the stars’ performance at 10, open dancing continues into the wee hours. Nondancing guests are welcome.
The Avalon Ballroom, at 6185 Arapahoe Ave., Boulder, has plenty of free parking.
For more information about the Feb. 13 dance party, Gustavo and Giselle’s tango workshops later in February, and Dance of the Heart’s other offerings, call 303-938-0716 or see Dance of the Heart's website.
