Boulder Outdoor Cinema goes “au naturel” with help from Whole Foods Market

One of Boulder's favorite movie series just got better!

Movies and junk food historically go hand-in-hand, but this summer, Whole Foods Market is helping to change that. In a partnership with Boulder Outdoor Cinema (BOC), Whole Foods Market has restocked the concessions pantry to contain only all-natural treats. This year, snacks and drinks sold at the film screenings will be free of artificial colors, flavors, preservatives and trans fats.

“Boulder Outdoor Cinema is very excited about our partnership with Whole Foods this season,” said Tiffany Monroe Director of Concession for Boulder Outdoor Cinema. “With Whole Foods support, we are now able to offer our patrons high quality concessions that are healthier than traditional candy and soda.” Now in its fifteenth season, the BOC has become a Boulder summertime tradition. Live music, trivia, contests, comedians and other forms of entertainment precede the movie and create audience interaction which creates an experience quite different from a traditional movie theatre.

“We wish to help align the event with the health-conscious Boulder community,” said Matt Collins Marketing and Community Relations Specialist for Ideal Market and Whole Foods Market Baseline. “When patrons experience our all-natural products they’ll realize that they can have all the taste and enjoyment without artificial ingredients.”

Film screenings run every Saturday from July 10 through August 14 at 1750 13th St. in downtown Boulder, directly behind the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art. Live entertainment begins at 7:30pm with a 9pm show time. This season’s movies were selected by the Boulder community and include such favorites as “The Princess Bride,” “Monty Python and the Holy Grail,” and Disney Pixar’s “UP.” Visit the Boulder Outdoor Cinema website for a complete list of films and more information.

This premiere looks fantastic! Serving natural food and premiering a good movie will surely increase the health awareness of everyone who'll attend this. Also, this gives me an idea what food to bring when we are going to watch the outdoor movies and attend the summer concert. Denver, where me and my family currently resides at, has a lot of awesome summer events (Denver) to attend to, and it increases our social bond with each other.
